The Tug: The Growing Seed

It's inside you. The tug is the growing seed of the word of God that was sown inside you. You hear the voice tell you it's time, but you keep ignoring it because you're so caught up in this world; you just don't feel like doing what you know is right.

Sometimes the tug is something that doesn't match up with your plan, or it doesn't match up with your goals, or it doesn't match up with what you think you want.  The tug is almost like a nagging in your heart. It's a thought in your mind that won't let you rest. The tug is a longing in your soul. It's a wrestling with your spirit that will not make peace until you make that change.

The tug will also make the emptiness inside you even more apparent because the one tugging is the one that will fulfill you and satisfy your deepest desires.

So, you distract yourself from the tug and emptiness; you fill your weekends with drinking and partying. You fill your weeknights with sex and drugs. You watch a lot of television and consistently browse social media and the web to keep your mind entertained. You begin to overeat because it brings you temporary comfort. You shop online or at the mall to make you feel better. You make your life all about your children or your spouse/significant other because they are the only ones who matter. You keep yourself busy working day and night so you don't have any time left to do what you need to do. You do everything except the one thing you know deep down you should do. You ignore His call.

He is calling you by name. He wants you even in your brokenness, even in your weakness, even in your filthiness. He wants you even though you barely want Him. He wants to show you what true love, fulfillment and satisfaction is. He wants to save you. He wants you to answer His call and follow Him so you can get to know Him and delight in Him.

So, if you are feeling the tug I encourage you to give in soon rather than later because there will be a day where you will no longer feel that tug, and you will drown out his call completely. By then it will be too late. Don't let the fleeting pleasures, worries and riches of this life choke the plants of the seeds that were sown in your heart. Confess your sins now; receive His love now; start a relationship with your creator now. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.
